Coronavirus Information

Our service to you during uncertain times

In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), we’d like to share the actions we’re taking to help protect our residents, colleagues and wider communities. Your safety and that of our colleagues is our top priority, and we are following the latest Government advice and guidelines.
 
We are working hard to continue to provide our essential services to residents and understand that you may be concerned because of the uncertainty the outbreak has created.

Repairs
We are now only carrying out emergency repairs. This is to protect residents and staff by applying social distancing and only visiting where absolutely necessary. Staff and contractors will take any necessary precautions to protect themselves and you, including wearing protective clothing where appropriate.
 
Non-urgent repairs can be reported to us via email at isha@isha.co.uk, but they will not be booked at this time. Please do not call about repairs that are not emergencies to allow urgent callers to get through to our customer service team.
 
How you can avoid unnecessary repairs
To avoid unnecessary blockages, please only flush toilet paper down your toilets. Other types of paper do not disintegrate in the same way and are not designed to be flushed. This will help to avoid unnecessary blockages for you and your neighbours during this period.
 
Health & safety checks
We are continuing to complete all health and safety checks in person. This includes risk assessments, gas safety checks, fire safety tests and checks, and so on.
 
Gas safety checks

During this period of self-isolation and with residents spending more time at home, it is now more important than ever that we check gas appliances to ensure your safety. Gas safety compliance is designated as essential work according to HSE guidelines. 

Our operatives will wear protective clothing while in your home to prevent the spread of the virus, and you will still be able to practise social distancing.

Neighbourhood teams
Our neighbourhood officers and neighbourhood services will continue as normal.
 
Cleaning
Cleaning across our stock will carry on as usual, but teams are being extra-vigilant in cleaning ‘touch-points’ e.g. lift buttons, bannisters etc
 
How you can keep communal areas safer
Only one person or household should use a lift at the same time. This is to maintain social distancing and reduce risk. Our neighbourhood teams will be putting up posters in blocks this week to remind you of our current services, Government guidance and how to keep yourself safe, at home and in communal areas.
 
Essential appointments
When booking and before attending essential appointments, we’ll ask you some extra questions about coronavirus, such as whether anyone in your household is diagnosed or self-isolating. This is to enable us to take appropriate safety measures.
 
Our staff may sometimes wear gloves during visits, or keep a certain distance away. They may ask you to wait in a separate room in your home whilst they complete any work required. This is part of our precautions to help reduce any risk.
 
Where their presence in the office is not essential, ISHA staff are working from home, to protect them and others and to limit personal contact to the essential only, as advised by Government.
 
Most of our services will continue as before but with the use of video or phone calls rather than in-person meetings where this is possible. Your safety and security remains our highest priority. 
 
In the event of an emergency
Any on-site fire incident advice remains valid and in the event of a fire alarm you will need to follow this advice. This may include evacuating the building if advised to do so, even if you have been advised to self-isolate.
