Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) has announced today the appointment of Ruth Davison, the National Housing Federation's (NHF) Executive Director of Public Impact as its next Chief Executive. This follows the decision of Clare Thomson to retire.
Making the announcement, Stephen Stringer, Chair of ISHA said he was “absolutely delighted to be able to appoint Ruth as our next CEO. Ruth brings a wide range of experience and knowledge and a drive and enthusiasm to the organisation. We are determined to continue to provide high quality homes at genuinely affordable rents for those in housing need in our area. I am confident Ruth is the right person to lead ISHA on its journey of being one of the top community based housing associations in London.
Speaking today Ms Davison said: “I am thrilled and honoured to be appointed to lead ISHA in its next phase of development. It is an ambitious housing association - ambitious for the places and people it exists to serve.
“It’s half way through a sizeable development programme, is committed to genuinely affordable and social rented housing, is focused on driving excellent customer service and works well with others who share its values.
“One of ISHA’s biggest new developments is just streets away from my home and the opportunity to deliver homes and services for my neighbours is one I couldn’t pass up. I have lived in North and East London for more than 20 years now and ISHA’s patch is my patch.”
She added: “We will work to ensure that if all our customers could choose, they’d choose us.”
Paying tribute to Clare Thomson, Stephen Stringer said, “Clare has been an amazing leader of ISHA and has grown the business with a strong set of values and taken it from strength to strength. During Clare’s time ISHA has not only increased the number of homes it owns but has also kept true to the sprit and ethos on which it was founded over 80 years ago of providing truly affordable homes for those in genuine housing need.”
Ms Davison will take up her post in January 2019 following the retirement of Clare Thomson who has served as ISHA’s CEO for almost a decade.
