Become a Board member

A yellow arm chair

We're looking to recruit members to join our Board and help us deliver our five-year strategy to co-create homes and communities where people can flourish.

Why join the Board?

  • As a Board member you will make sure tenant and resident voices are represented in the strategic decisions we take.
  • You'll gain a greater understanding and insight into the challenges ISHA faces in providing affordable homes in our core boroughs.
  • As part of an experienced team you will learn new skills in the governance of non-profit organisations.
"I wanted to be on the Board because I believe in social housing in London, in the difference that shared ownership and low rent flats make to families. I feel rewarded when I raise an idea and realise that intuition, life experience, and common sense have come together and the idea is a good one."

- Alice Powell, ISHA resident, Board member and Vice-Chair

How often does the Board meet?

Board members are required to attend six evening meetings and two away days a year. You'll be asked to join our of our committees.

What skills do you need?

The most important skill for you to join our Board is a commitment to making ISHA a brilliant housing association. You'll have previous governance experience, excellent listening and criticial thinking skills and be able to work well with other people.

We are particularly interested in recruiting new Board members with experience and skills in customer services, property and asset management, people and organisational development or if you've lived experience as a social housing tenant.

Applications and more information

There's more information about being a Board member and how to apply on our recruitment website.
