Following the tragic events at Grenfell Tower earlier this year, we are taking a number of actions to ensure that fire safety continues to be a very high priority.
We have now reviewed all our buildings over 18 metres and identified three with the form of cladding that is considered a high risk (i.e. aluminium composite material). We have written and met with the customers in these blocks, and continue to work with them to identify a solution for their blocks. We have arranged extra fire safety support and continue to review all of our buildings with specialist fire professionals and the London Fire Brigade to identify and deal with other fire risks.
ISHA’s current policy is that customers in blocks of flats should “stay put” in the event of a fire not in their flat, and immediately report any fire to the fire brigade. In the event of a fire in your flat, leave the flat and shut the door behind you.
Our flats are designed to be fire resistant so that the Fire Brigade can either put out a fire or carry out an evacuation of the building. This “stay put” policy is the current advice of the London Fire Brigade and of course we will review it in line with any changes in advice.
All buildings are subject to regular fire risk assessments to ensure that the properties are safe and the blocks are regularly inspected to maintain safety.
