Fire Safety Advice

As your landlord we are responsible for ensuring that your home is safe, and we do, of course, carry out fire risk assessments for all our blocks. These are published on our website and we act to implement recommendations following the assessments.

But it is important that we all do what we can to prevent fires and to stop fire spreading, keeping ourselves and our neighbours safe. Please:

  • Keep shared areas clear for you, your visitors, your neighbours and fire fighters should they need to attend in an emergency.
  • Do not keep flammable materials inside your property or on balconies.
  • BBQ’s are prohibited on balconies as a condition of your tenancy/lease and you should never have a BBQ next to a building.
  • Keep balconies clear of combustible materials and do not use white goods on balconies.
  • Do not dump bulk items in communal areas which could be set alight or cause an obstacle.  Some councils provide a free service to remove bulk refuse so please use it.
  • Report any dumped rubbish and those who have dumped it to our Neighbourhood team who will investigate with a view to taking enforcement action against those who put other people in danger.
  • Check smoke and heat detectors are working and regularly maintain them (here’s advice on how) [117.83Kb]
  • Take a look at the Fire Brigade's advice online at:
  • Please find attached our Fire Safety Policy [1.16mb]

All buildings are subject to regular fire risk assessments to ensure that the properties are safe and the blocks are regularly inspected to maintain safety.
