Avoiding Rent Arrears Facing up to debt is not easy but if you need assistance in claiming benefits or want advice about your rent arrears and other housing debts then contact our Customer Service Team for advice. They can provide you with details of FREE independent advice services who can give you tips for avoiding arrears, how to avoid falling into debt and helpful advice if you do fall into debt. For more information contact our Customer Services Team on 0300 131 7300. In the meantime here are some handy tips for you; Contact us as soon as there is a problem. Respond immediately to any letters we send you. Tell Housing Benefits or Universal Credit immediately of any changes in your circumstances. Provide any additional information that Housing Benefits or Universal Credit have asked you for on time. When you make an arrangement with us you must keep to it. Do not keep calling us to change an arrangement made. Change your standing order and rent payments to the correct amount when your rent changes
