Social media

We want to use digital platforms to improve how we communicate with you. By following us on social media you can leave us comments, get quick answers and keep up-to-date with the latest ISHA news. We aim to hold a polite, respectful and meaningful conversation with you. In some circumstances, it may be necessary for us to remove or report content, or even block or ban a user. In the interest of transparency, this statement outlines what would lead to these actions being taken. Moderation We seek to ensure equality of opportunity for our residents and staff. As a result, ISHA will remove and/or report any posts or content that violates the hosting sites terms of use or that go against ISHA’s equality, diversity and inclusion strategy (pdf, 1mb). You are wholly responsible for any content you choose to post. We do monitor all posts on our channels during working hours, but we are not responsible for any opinions posted by other users on our social media channels. Where a comment has been removed or reported, a private message will be sent to the poster explaining why this action has been taken. If the content of the comment is serious or if it is a repeated occurrence, we reserve the right to block or ban a user from engaging with us on social media. Some discussions are not suitable for a public forum. If a post contains personal or sensitive information (e.g. address or contact details) the post will be removed where possible or reported, and the user will be notified via private message. In instances where personal details need to be communicated, private or direct messages or traditional methods (e.g. phone, email, face to face) will be used. ISHA will respect and adhere to Data Protection regulations in its use of social media. View our data protection policy (pdf, 249kb). Acceptable and unacceptable behaviour We want the users of our social media sites to be protected from offensive content. As a result, some posts or content may be seen as unacceptable. We do not discriminate against any views, but we reserve the right to remove or report any of the following, and block or ban users who post this content: Offensive posts Violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or discriminatory (on the basis of – race, colour, ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, marital status, social class, age, responsibility for dependents or HIV/AIDS status) comments or content. Threats or defamation Comments that threaten or defame any person or organisation. Commercial posts Solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. Illegal content Comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity. Off-topic posts Multiple successive off-topic posts by a single user. Spam Repetitive posts copied, pasted and posted. Deceptive or misleading posts Posts that name ISHA members of staff without their permission Posts with vulgar language Swearing will not be tolerated, and posts/comments seen as offensive will be removed or reported. As with our physical locations, we want our virtual spaces to be welcoming, open and respectful. Reporting social media content Should you spot any content or comments posted on our social media channels which you believe is not in accordance with these House Rules, then please report it to news@isha.co.uk and/or to the relevant social media channel.
