Outreach and Support

Who is this support for?

Support is available to all of Lien Viet Housing Association's customers and to ISHA's Vietnamese and South East Asian customers.  We also provide support to members of the wider Vietnamese and South East Asian community. We hold regular drop-in sessions in the community. You can find your nearest session on our events calendar.

We welcome referrals from other agencies.  For more information on this service and how to make  a referral please email one of our Outreach and Support Officers.

Our Outreach and Support Officers speak English and Vietnamese and can access support in other languages.

What is Outreach and Support?

Lien Viet Outreach and Support Officers are available to provide focussed help and support to you on a one to one basis. They can provide help to set up, manage and maintain your tenancy.  The kind of support that the team might provide includes:

  • Getting gas, electricity, water and other utility connections set up.
  • Claiming relevant benefits, maximising income and managing finances.
  • Seeking local services including medical, schools and transport.
  • Enhancing employability, seeking education, training and  job opportunities.
  • Accessing local community and cultural groups and services.
  • Accessing statutory services and other support services.
  • Working with ISHA's housing and customer accounts teams to help you resolve issues if you can’t speak English.
  • Advice, support and help accessing other specialist services.

The Outreach and Support Officers work in different areas.

How is support provided?

You can contact your Outreach and Support Officer directly or you can be referred by an ISHA member of staff if they think you might need some help.  An Outreach and Support Officer will arrange to meet you to carry out an assessment so they can find out what kind of help they can provide.  It may be an issue that they can help you resolve there and then.  Otherwise they will develop a support plan with you and implement it over an agreed period of time.

Can we support everyone?

We will do our best to support everyone but there may be times where you might have to wait for support services.  Where there are cases which require urgent assistance we will prioritise these appropriately.  This could include cases of domestic violence or where someone is threatened with eviction.
