Eid Mubarak

We’d like to wish all our residents, staff, and anyone celebrating the end of Ramadan, Eid Mubarak! What is Eid? Eid, also called Eid al-Fitr, marks the culmination of Ramadan, the month of fasting Muslims observe worldwide. It's a time of joy, reflection, and gratitude, and it carries deep significance in Islamic tradition. Eid means "celebration" in Arabic. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until dusk, focusing on prayer, self-discipline, and charity as acts of devotion to Allah. Why is Eid important? Eid symbolises the completion of the month-long period of spiritual growth and self-reflection. It reinforces values of compassion, charity, and community, with Muslims worldwide coming together to share blessings and support those in need. How is Eid celebrated? Eid festivities commence with the sighting of the new moon, marking the start of Shawwal. Muslims gather for the Eid prayer, followed by a sermon emphasising gratitude and forgiveness. Families then come together for a special breakfast, dressed in new attire as a symbol of renewal. Throughout the day, visits, gifts, and acts of kindness are exchanged, fostering community joy and unity.
