ISHA's Lunar New Year celebrations - back with a bang!

ISHA welcomed in the Lunar New Year recently with a special celebration for its Vietnamese residents at our office. 

2024 marks the year of the dragon, said to bring evolution, improvement, and abundance. We were delighted to host the celebrations again for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.  

Guests celebrated at the event on Tuesday 13 February with performances from Lion Dances, a Tai Chi master and Vietnamese traditional dancers.

Why does ISHA celebrate Lunar New Year? 

Lunar New Year, or Tết as it is known in Vietnam, is one of the most significant celebrations in large parts of Asia. In Vietnam, many people get together with family to feast and party together.   

ISHA houses many Vietnamese people, many of whom arrived as refugees from the 1970s onwards
.  
Most residents were first housed by The Lien Viet Housing Company, established 1988 with a specific mission to provide a “safe haven” in the form of affordable, culturally sensitive housing for refugees from Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Lien Viet is now a subsidiary of ISHA and we strive to continue to offer that same service.
