Residents and staff at Penn Street recently came together for a summer barbecue.
Located in Hackney, Penn Street is home to a close-knit community of nine residents aged over 55 who are given support by a dedicated on-site team from Hackney Council.
The barbecue was just one of the many events on Penn Street's busy social calendar this summer. It was funded through our £200 Neighbourhood grant. The grant funded a Christmas party last year and this summer barbecue, covering food, drinks, and other barbeque essentials! These events are always a great chance for residents to spend time together and keep connected to the community around them.
The experiences of older residents and those with additional support needs can sometimes be underrepresented in surveys and feedback activities. This event also provided a great opportunity for the residents to give feedback for our repairs’ procurement project, which will help shape the future repairs service.
The staff at Penn Street who often raise repairs on behalf of residents were able to share valuable insight into how the current service is working for the people they support, as well as their experiences with our current contractors.
ISHA's Neighbourhood Grant programme helps residents bring ideas to life that benefit their communities and create opportunities for neighbours to come together! Whether you're planning a community event, looking to improve a shared space, or have an idea that could make a difference where you live, we'd love to hear from you.
