Last week, the Resident Scrutiny Panel met to look at ISHA’s new corporate and resident involvement strategic plans. ISHA's Chief Executive, Pippa, joined the session to share early ideas based on what residents have told us in surveys, conversations, and workshops.
What the Panel talked about
The panel discussed the initial feedback from staff and residents around repairs, communication and tone of voice, safety and feeling secure and about providing clearer information around service charges.
They also talked about how the resident priorities survey is shaping the new resident involvement strategy.
Panel members were also invited to help lead the upcoming co-creation sessions to ensure resident voices stay at the heart of the work.
Sarah, the Chair of the Resident Scrutiny Panel, said this about the meeting:
"The recent session showed again that resident voices can influence direction rather than just react after decisions are made."
Fellow panel member, Jay added: "Being able to ask challenging questions and contribute to discussions has shown me that resident voices genuinely shape ISHA’s direction."
Your feedback matters
Panel members shared honest and constructive ideas, including ideas for:
- involving residents earlier in decision-making
- clearer communication when estates are affected by works
- helping staff better understand residents’ lived experiences
- making sure involvement is open, accessible, and meaningful.
The Panel were also keen for ISHA to provide more training opportunities as a way to raise awareness and strengthen the role of resident-led scrutiny at ISHA.
