Upgrading the emergency telephone system in our lifts

Soon, we'll be upgrading the emergency telephone system for the lifts in some of our buildings.

The upgrade will install a modern auto-dialler, ensuring the lift can continue to contact emergency services safely and reliably. This work is essential because of the national withdrawal of traditional telephone lines.

Lift availability

To complete the upgrade safely, lifts will be temporarily taken out of service while the work is carried out. We'll keep the downtime and any disruption to a minimum, and we're providing extra support to residents who need it.

When is my lift being upgraded?

If we are going to be working on a lift in your building, we will write to you. We'll let you know:

  • the name of the contractor
  • when the work will start
  • how long we expect the work to take
  • what additional support we're offering.
