Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was a fitting opportunity to say thank you to outgoing board member Yasmin Khan (pictured above).
Our strict governance means that Yasmin has served the maximum term allowed. Presented with a bouquet as a gesture of our thanks for her seven years dedication during the proceedings, Yasmin said: “It was, and still remains, my ambition to improve the lives of the people where I was born and raised. It has been a real privilege.”
Prior to the AGM Yasmin and other board members including Chair, Mervyn Jones, met with our involved residents of the Resident Scrutiny Panel.
Formal AGM business included sign-off of the financial statements, which for the first time is presented in a more accessible format. The new-style 2023-24 financial statements (PDF), takes a more narrative and visual approach to explaining our financial position. It also includes the new Tenant Satisfaction Measures report, a new legal requirement by the Regulator of Social Housing.
In attendance were board members, Leadership Team, stakeholders, contractors, local and involved residents, and staff award members. Addressing them, Mervyn commented how special the 90th birthday celebrations had been and how he hoped that there might be more events as a way of connecting in the future.
Meryn also commented on our ongoing priorities; governance, health and safety, fire safety, and the frustration of funding, and the hope that there might be a more equitable and fair settlement by the current government to support our necessary spending on fire safety measures.
Summarising he said: “There has been hard work, and we have made progress.”
Following the formal AGM, the guests invited as a thank you for their involvement and contributions to ISHA this year, enjoyed drinks and canapes and the chance to socialise informally.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time to organise, attend and contribute to the success of our AGM.
