ISHA's Vietnamese community join Tết celebrations

Women in white clothing and a red scarf perform a traditional dance.

ISHA residents, and other members of the Vietnamese community celebrated together with delicious Vietnamese dishes followed by a lively Lion dance, traditional dancing and music.

We were pleased to sponsor the event, where over 100 people took part in festivities!

Chuong is one of our Outreach and Support Officers and is originally from Vietnam himeself. He got stuck in promoting the party to our residents and getting them involved in the festive fun.

Residents pose in front of an ISHA banner with Chuong in the middle, all are smiling.

We partnered with the Community of Refugees From Vietnam organisation to help support the community continue to celebrate the Year of the Snake together.

We've been working together with the Vietnamese community for years and there's still a great need for support. We help support them to be independent and we're able to help residents maintain a sense of community, where they otherwise might be isolated.

Many residents have lived in the UK for decades now, but it's still important that those communities receive culturally sensitive services. Together we've celebrated Lunar New Year (or Tết as it's called in Vietnam) on many occassions, and will continue to do so.

We have a proud heritage of providing homes for Vietnamese, and other South East Asian communities in London with the Housing Association Lien Viet. Find out more about our history of proving homes for South East Asian Communities.
