City and Hackney Well-Being Network

Network of 11 voluntary sector mental health services for adults in Hackney and the City.  Helps people to build resilience to prevent the onset of mental health problems; manage stress, anxiety and low mood and support people with severe and enduring mental health conditions to improve their quality of life and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.

For people of any age who may have long-term psychological issues or who have had a sudden crisis such as a shock, bereavement, relationship issue, etc. Offers confidential expert advice and guidance support and referrals to local services.

Hackney Caribbean Elderly Organisation

Works mainly with the Caribbean community but is socially inclusive and embraces differences in all areas of its work.  Provides a range of services and a homely environment for people to meet, socialise and participate in activities which promote good health and wellbeing.  These activities include: art, crafts and games; exercise; outings and social, cultural and spiritual support.

Open to Hackney residents who: have the right to work in the UK and a national insurance number; are unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week; are on a low income and want to work.  Services include: personalised employment support; help with job searches, CVs, job applications and interview techniques; basic skills training including English and maths; vocational training; access to volunteering, work placements, apprenticeships and job opportunities; 'better off' calculations and information on in-work benefits
