About Supported Housing

ISHA owns and directly manages four schemes within its supported housing section.

These are:

Spring Villa  
A block of 11 self contained one or two person units for the over 55s in Islington with a residential support worker living on site. When a vacancy occurs it is offered to either an existing ISHA tenant who requires this type of accommodation or to someone waiting on the London Borough of Islington’s housing list.

20 Penn Street
A supported living scheme (SLS) for the frail elderly comprising 16 self contained single person units in Hackney. ISHA provides both housing management and support services at this scheme. This accommodation can only be accessed via the London Borough of Hackney’s Health & Community Team.

Liz McKeon House
A supported living scheme (SLS) for the frail elderly with mental health issues comprising eight self contained single person units in Hackney. ISHA provides housing management services and housing support services at this scheme. As above, referral to this scheme is via Hackney’s Health & Community Team.

11-21 Mintern Street
A small block of six self contained one or two person units for the over 55’s in Hackney. These are managed as general needs flats by the supported housing team. When a vacancy occurs it is offered to either an existing ISHA tenant who requires this type of accommodation or to someone waiting on the London Borough of Hackney’s housing list.

Accommodation for former Rough Sleepers

ISHA manages 28 self contained single person flats in Islington which are allocated to former rough sleepers referred by the Clearing House. Floating Support is provided where necessary by the Tenancy Sustainment Team (North).

Accommodation for Adults with Learning Disabilities

In early 2011 ISHA entered into an agreement with the London Borough of Islington to house 10 adults with learning disabilities on one estate in the Borough.

The self contained single person flats are allocated to adults with learning disabilities referred by Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP). On site support (including night time cover) is provided by Centre 404. 

Managing Agents

ISHA also has management agreements for properties it owns with five managing agents. These are:

• Apna Ghar Housing Association
  4 units of supported accommodation for the physically disabled in Islington.
• Bangla Housing Association
  38 units of general needs family accommodation in Hackney, Islington & Waltham Forest.
• Broadway
  6 units of supported accommodation for vulnerable single people in a shared house in Hackney.
• Outward (the supported housing arm of Newlon Housing Trust)
  7 units of supported accommodation for people with learning difficulties in Waltham Forest.
• London Borough of Hackney
  Up to 96 bedspaces of temporary accommodation for homeless families pending assessment in Hackney.

Moving on from supported housing

We provide a small amount of ‘move-on’ from some of our supported schemes for those tenants who are ready to move onto independent living – if you are interested in this please contact your Agency.
