Get involved with ISHA: Help shape your neighbourhood

ISHA Neighbourhood Services Officers act as custodians of ISHA’s neighbourhoods and buildings and ensure that day-to-day services are delivered well. Their role is to maintain the buildings and grounds to improve your neighbourhood’s attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety. An important part of this is carrying out site inspections. Last week Neighbourhood Officer Gary, and Resident and Community Involvement Lead Sophie carried out a visit with Rob, resident at Mandarin Wharf to do just that. They discussed maintenance tasks such as bins and refuse collection, communal area upkeep and improving organisation of the bike shed. They also discussed ideas to add greenery and plants to the entrance area and artwork for the entrance hall. Rob said, “It’s useful to do inspections with Gary – he’s a good guy and listens to me. We walk around together and discuss any issues residents have raised. It’s helpful to discuss any issues to resolve, and we keep good communication. Gary then takes it back to ISHA and contractors to get it sorted, I then share updates on our residents what’s app group, which everyone really appreciates.” Gary said “I have worked for ISHA for 32 years and I’ve gained knowledge by working with neighbourhoods and many changing communities over this time. Involving residents in my role is important, it’s their home and they are vital to keeping me informed on what’s going on and working well together. I am proud to have worked for ISHA for so long.” How have ISHA residents been involved in shaping their neighbourhoods? Follow the links to find out more. Residents have joined us at neighbourhood nights to talk about any concerns they have and offer ideas for improvements. That's how Rob got involved! Some have got in touch with the Resident Scrutiny Panel to offer suggestions to improve ISHA’s services. Sophie has met with residents to hear about what makes them them, and find ways we can improve their experience of ISHA. See here for information on the panel, and find out how you can join Resident Scrutiny Panel If you want to join your Neighbourhood Services Officer on a visit, or want to explore other ways of improving ISHA, contact Sophie on 07974 040 715 or email involvement@isha.co.uk we would love to hear from you!
