We’re proud to announce that along with our partners in the North River Alliance (NRA), ISHA has been successful in our application for £15.7million of funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA).
In 2020, together with Gateway Housing Association, Hornsey Housing Trust, Shian Housing Association, North London Muslim Housing Association and Barnsbury Housing Association, ISHA submitted a combined bid for the GLA’s Affordable Homes Programme 2021-2026. And in September, we heard the news we’d been hoping for – our bid was successful.
With the funding secured, the NRA will deliver 105 new, truly affordable homes for people living in Barnsbury, Islington, Waltham Forest and Haringey. Construction at the first site will start this financial year (before the end of March 2023), and work will commence at all sites by March 2026 at the latest.
The new homes will be a mix of London Living Rent (which includes an option to buy) and properties for sale through shared ownership.
Euan Barr, Chief Executive Officer of Hornsey Housing Trust said:
"We are delighted to have secured GLA funding for its commitment to more social rented homes for older people in Haringey, working as we do in an expensive location with significant need. The North River Alliance demonstrates the real value that small, community-focused organisations can deliver working in partnership. Long may it continue to thrive!"
The bid's success is an outstanding achievement and shows the power of a consortium such as the NRA in securing significant funds for building much-needed new homes in London. In addition to the £15.7 million secured to deliver 105 new homes, the NRA also has the option to bid for more GLA funding in the future to help deliver their ambitions for a further 100 new homes.
