Wow – what a month for resident involvement!
Just six weeks into the role, I’ve already held two resident-facing events, and had numerous conversations with people interested in the resident scrutiny panel.
As always, if you’d like to be involved and have your say in all things ISHA, get in touch with me at involvement@isha.co.uk and I’ll be happy to chat.
Hackney residents’ meeting
On Thursday, 27 July, we opened the doors of St Michael & All Angels Church in London Fields, Hackney, and welcomed in the local ISHA community for a shared meal and the chance to provide feedback on their experience with us.

ISHA was out in full force – with repairs, surveyors, development, customer service, rent and income, housing, neighbourhoods and outreach all in attendance to meet with residents, listen to their concerns and find solutions together.
We were delighted with the conversations and positive engagement we had with residents:
“Coming here to solve these things has been so much easier.”
“Generally, my experience of ISHA is great, and I’m happy to see these events are happening again.”
And it’s particularly useful to have feedback on where we can improve:
“Usually, I have to talk to four different people at ISHA until something gets done.”
“It’s good to see you’re working on communicating with residents better, because ISHA needs to improve in telling us what’s going on and having a transparent approach.”
“We don’t want things to just happen for us; we want things to happen because of us.”
Ecoactive running plant-potting game
On a smaller scale, on Thursday, 20 July, I also visited Zoffany Street with Neighbourhood Services Officer, Gary Johnson, to speak to residents about their frustration with lift repairs and communication.
We were delighted to hear that residents were happy with our service in many ways – including cleaning, our staff and our general service. We noted their concerns around communication and are implementing some changes to make all residents aware of communal issues and repairs going forward.
We have also recently appointed Apex Lifts on a one-year contract to maintain and service our lifts until we can tender for a new lift contractor.
We are planning to run similar events in the London Boroughs of Islington and Waltham Forest. If they’re of interest to you, let us know by emailing involvement@isha.co.uk.
We’ll be using your feedback to help inform service improvements, so please keep sharing your thoughts.
A few residents have spoken to us about being part of the resident scrutiny panel – which is one of our formal mechanisms for residents to help to implement change, consult on policies and processes, and gain experience with ISHA.
We’re delighted to have so many engaged residents, and we need more people.
We're expanding the panel right now to be fully developed by Autumn/Winter 2023.
We can offer you: formal training, the chance to have a real voice of change within ISHA, the chance to connect with other residents and be involved across the organisation and ISHA Board.
You can offer us: your lived experience and honest feedback, a two-year commitment to working with us, your skills and expertise in a range of areas.
We’ll be holding a scrutiny panel information session at 6pm on Thursday, 17 August. If you’d like to find out more about the panel and how to get involved, email involvement@isha.co.uk to reserve your place.
Another way to have your say is to get involved with our repairs panel.
As our current lift contract will be going out for tender in early 2024, there will be an opportunity for members of our residents’ repairs panel to participate in the recruitment of our new lift contractor.
Your lived experience truly matters to improving our service, which is why it's important to have residents involved in appointing new contractors.
If you’d like to learn more about the repairs panel, email involvement@isha.co.uk.
Filling out this survey will take the same amount of time as making a cup of tea.
